The Best
Option for Acne Scars
This is a comprehensive and innovative approach to the treatment
of mild to severe acne, utilizing medical management, nutritional
analysis, cosmetic appearance enhancement, and psychological counseling
and support. At Positive Changes for Health and Beauty, our goal
is to provide a high quality, well rounded program of care so that
the patient can blossom and have a new, brighter outlook.
MILD TO MODERATE ACNE PROGRAM This is a 3 month program that starts with a physical examination
and evaluation by our nurse practitioner. We will explore possible
causes, nutritional factors, and provide opportunity for education
about acne and proper skin cleansing and care. Appropriate medication
will be prescribed to treat the acne, and a follow-up appointment
will be scheduled for 1 month. At the second visit, the effectiveness
of the medication regimen will be evaluated and the patient will
receive the first of two Microdermabrasion treatments. Microdermabrasion
is a non-invasive facial treatment procedure which serves several
purposes in the treatment of acne: It removes excess dead skin layers,
unclogs pores and removes comedomes, and smoothes over any scarring
that may have begun to develop. There may be some redness to the
skin afterwards, but this will diminish quickly. One month later,
at the third visit, the patient will receive another Microdermabrasion
treatment and continued evaluation of the medication regimen and
its effectiveness. The patient may, at this time, opt to schedule
more Microdermabrasion treatments.
MODERATE TO SEVERE ACNE PROGRAM This is a 6 month program that is somewhat identical to the 3 month
program, although medical management may be more aggressive depending
on the severity of the acne. There will be monthly follow-up appointments
and the patient will receive 5 Microdermabrasion treatments.
The overall goal of acne therapy is to get rid of existing lesions
and prevent the formation of new ones, and to provide each patient
with an individualized treatment plan that produces the best healing
results.
Acne is not just a skin disorder. It also affects the patient's
image of themselves - their self-esteem, self-confidence, and body
image. This impact on one's psychological outlook can have a crippling
effect on the patient's ability to pursue life's opportunities -
at school, work, or in a social setting. It is our hope that by
integrating a comprehensive program that encompasses both medical
management with cosmetic enhancement and counseling, we may be able
to assist our clients in obtaining a new outlook on life that they
might not otherwise have without any treatment.
