Psoriasis Treatment that's Light Years Ahead

Psoriasis sufferes have a new reason to hope for relief. In february 2000, the FDA granted market approval for an excimer laser system from PhotoMedex for the treatment of psoriasis; the second most common skin disorder. The PhotoMedex Excimer Laser System-XTRAC™-is the first and only FDA market approved laser treatment for psoriasis.

XTRAC System is designated to enhance UVB treatments by reducing the number and duration of treatments necessary to control outbreaks. The system enables you to provide your patients with safer and more convenience means of treatment. Please read the enclosed article from Rox Anderson, M.D., which appeared in the April issue of Dermatology Times for more specific treatment data.

The XTRAC is a 308 nm xenon: chloride laser system and is in the desirable narrow-band UVB range. The treatment is delivered via a handpiece that covers 3.2 cm2. By avoiding exposure of healthy skin to Ultraviolet B, you can safely give the desired higher exposure doses needed for rapid clearing.

PhotoMedex is taking a unique approach in the launch and distribution of the XTRAC in the Dermatologists' practice.
