  • Permanent Makeup - an Overview
    from Sharon Cash

Wouldn't it be nice to never have to apply your eyeliner, lipstick or eyebrow pencils again? If this sounds too good to be true, it's not. Let us tell you about permanent makeup.

Permanent makeup, known as micropigmentation, reportedly stems back to the early 1900's. During that time, girls and women received beauty spot and blush tattooing. Micropigmentation, however, did not become popular nationally until the late 1980's.

Micropigmentation is a medically developed procedure of implanting pigments into your skin to create an everlasting cosmetic effect. You can save time and money in your routine grooming and not have to worry about smearing, smudging, cosmetic allergies, or makeup washing off. Micropigmentation can enhance your eyebrows, eyes and lips. Uneven contours can also be corrected to highlight your natural features.

Permanent color can create a polished look or a more subtle and natural look. Many patients choose to have a natural look and dress it up with traditional makeup for a more dramatic evening appearance.

    • Lip Color - Micropigmentation for lip color is beautiful. It can appear to change the size and shape of the lips as well as the color. This procedure helps prevent lipstick from bleeding into the surrounding skin. The color you choose can range from a soft pink, similar to the lip color of a newborn baby, to a more dramatic, femme fatale appearance.

    • Eyebrows - Anyone who desires more fullness of the brows will love the micropigmentation procedure and the time that is saved not applying makeup. Those who used to apply pencil can go swimming, play tennis or wipe their forehead without the embarrassment of losing their eyebrows.

    • Eyeliner - A subtle, natural look, mimicking thousands of tiny eyelashes with the implantation of pigments in the lash line is popular with both male and female patients. Additional coloring can be added for a soft, natural liner or a more bold, definite line can be achieved. It's also ideal for contact lens wearers.

What could be better than to wake up looking as good in the morning as you did in the evening? Schedule a consultation with one of our dermal technicians, and you'll discover why micropigmentation is the most talked about makeup concept for the new millennium.
